Tempered Steel is an annually published literary magazine that publishes creative works exclusively by Colorado State University Pueblo students from across majors and experiences. We strive to publish pieces that highlight the best that Thunderwolves have to offer across fields, accepting submissions in fiction, nonfiction, poetry, drama, translation, book reviews, artwork, cartoons, and self-contained comics. We welcome any other genres that demonstrate a high level of artistry and craft, however we do not accept academic papers.
Thank you for considering your work for submission to Tempered Steel, and we look forward to reading all the fantastic pieces that our community has to offer.
As a courtesy to our staff, we ask that you please remove any personally identifiable information from your document as to aid us in keeping our selection process both timely and fair. Submissions in prose should be up to 3000 words, and poetry should be submitted in packets of 3 to 6. Artwork and visual submissions should be at least 300 dpi, and will be printed in grayscale for the final publication.
Each submission should also include a brief letter that contains your NetID number, an alternate email address or phone number, and a brief bio written in third person. (This can be two or three sentences about yourself, your major, writing experience, or anything else you would like to share with us.)
